James is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience across NHS and independent services.
James currently works within a specialist NHS adult autism service alongside undertaking independent diagnostic assessments. James has a particular interest in the intersection between neurodivergence and mental health and is passionate about delivering high-quality, neuroaffirmative assessments.
James is experienced in the assessment and diagnosis of autism and is trained in the ADOS-2, ADI-R and licensed to use the DISCO. He believes assessments should be collaborative, respectful and person-centred, ensuring that individuals and families feel heard and understood. His approach recognises neurodivergence as a natural aspect of human diversity and focuses on understanding each person’s individual strengths, needs, identity and lived experience.
Alongside his clinical work, James provides autism training and consultation to NHS services and has taught on the University of Liverpool’s Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme. He also has a strong background in psychological therapies and particular experience supporting autistic adults experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD and trauma-related difficulties.
James is committed to combining clinical excellence with warmth, curiosity and compassion, helping people gain not only diagnostic clarity but greater understanding, acceptance and confidence in their identity.
